We are all now recovering from our Thanksgiving #2, that we spent in Lubbock with all of Todd's family...and I do mean recovering! 2/3 of our little family were quite "under the weather" for our Thanksgiving celebration with Todd's family.
Maggie had a 4 day battle with an ugly stomach bug (complete with vomiting and diarrhea) that started on Monday. Poor little baby was a real trooper. She hung in there even though we were traveling and away from home. Being in Lubbock was great for her because instead of just mommy and daddy caring for her when she was sick...she had 2 experienced/wise grandparents, 3 loving aunts, 3 strong uncles and 4 busy cousins to all help her out during her time of need!
I was also sick over the holiday with the absolute worst case of strep throat I have ever had! Who knew tonsils could swell that big? I went to an urgent care center on Saturday after battling a sore throat for 2 days. They ran a strep culture and some labs to make sure I did not have mono (Praise God that I don't have mono, what would a mommy with a toddler do?). Strep throat it was...1 big antibiotic shot and 7 days of oral antibiotics, and I was all fixed up! Finally by today (Monday) I am feeling like a human again!
Thanks to the Hunt family for tolerating our sickness and loving and caring for us in our time of need. You guys were so kind and helpful without any reserves about getting sick yourselves. Now that is family love! However, we will continue to pray that none of you get sick!
Somewhere in the middle of our time in Lubbock---on the tail end of Maggie's sickness and right before my illness kicked up---we were able to squeeze in a small family outing to the local community pond in Lubbock. The great thing about this pond is that it is full of ducks and geese! For whatever reason, they still haven't flown south for the winter, so we were able to feed them. The kiddos all loved the experience. They were some brave little fowl, that came right up to our feet and were all around us. Maggie loved the experience and can now perfectly say the word DUCK with precious enthusiasm!
As we ended our Thanksgiving week driving home from Lubbock. Todd and I both had a great deal of time (5.5 hours to be exact) to really ponder how very much we truly have to be thankful for! It seems so simple to say, but can be summed up in 1 easy saying...FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS! Thank you Lord for showering our family with your unconditional love and blessing! Thank you family (Flynt's & Hunt's) for all of your support, care and interest in our family's well being and happiness. Thank you friends, for your time, concern and energy in continuing to thrive and live during this season of our lives.
Of course, there are so many other things too...our home, our jobs, our health and Taco Bueno! Ha, ha, ha---no really if you know me, you know I go crazy for a little Taco Bueno any time!
So we heavily hope that all of our friends and family were able to enjoy some relaxing and happy times during this past season of thankfulness!
I am so excited to now prepare for CHRISTMAS! It is one of my favorite times of the year!

Strep throat + a tummy bug - you poor things! I hate that you spent your holiday being sick. I'm glad that you were surrounded by family to take care of you, though. Hopefully, you will have a super happy (and healthy) Christmas season!
